The frightening incident in the skies over Thailand was filmed on mobile phones showing one of the hostesses clutching her face after being burnt by flying food.

She was reportedly given first aid on board by her colleagues to deal with the burns and was taken to hospital.

The Mirror reports one of the unruly pair claimed to have a bomb, forcing the pilot to turn the plane around and make an emergency landing.

The drama started when the couple boarded the plane and found that they were seated separately.

The situation was rectified but the couple refused to calm down continuing to argue.

Video clips and photos showing the man shouting at staff went viral after they were uploaded on Chinese social media network Weibo.

A spokesman for the budget airline said the plane had been forced to turn around and return to its original departure point of Bangkok, so that the pair could be arrested.
