A male nurse has been charged with murder over the deaths of two residents and the sudden illness of a third at an aged-care facility in Wallsend, near Newcastle.
The 27-year-old was arrested around 9:30am (AEDT) today faces two counts of murder and another of attempted murder.
Police will reportedly allege the man injected three patients at the SummitCare facility with toxic levels of insulin.
Strike Force Correa was established by Newcastle detectives to investigate the suspicious deaths of Gwen Fowler, 83, on the 18th October, 2013 and Ryan Kelly, 91, the following day.
A third resident, a woman aged 91, also fell ill with similar symptoms but has since recovered.
Police will address the media this afternoon over the charges.
