OPPOSITION Leader Matthew Guy has unveiled his new shadow ministerial line-up to tackle the Andrews Government.

One third of the Coalition’s shadow cabinet are new to the frontbench including two first term Members of Parliament, John Pesutto and Steph Ryan.

Mr Pesutto, who worked as a lawyer to former Premier Denis Napthine will serve as Shadow Attorney General, while Ms Ryan has been appointed to the portfolios of Training, Skills and Apprenticeships and Young Victorians.

Other MPs promoted to the front bench include Georgie Crozier, Brad Battin, David Morris, Neale Burgess, Craig Ondarchie and David Southwick.

Other key appointments include Upper House MP Mary Wooldridge who will serve as the Shadow Health Minister.

While former health minister David Davis will take on the role of shadow planning minister.

Mr Guy said the new team would offer a “fresh way of thinking”.

“I firmly believe that this is a mix of experience but one with a huge amount of new faces and new talent coming into the shadow ministry,” Mr Guy said.

“The Coalition frontbench is one that is the best people, in the right positions doing the best job for Victorians to be an alternative government.”

He said his new team would be productive and energetic and it signalled a new approach for the Coalition.

Mr Guy defended his decision to move former ministers Wendy Lovell, Martin Dixon, Louise Asher, Kim Wells, Peter Ryan and Denis Napthine to the backbench.

“It’s time for change, time to move on and time to inject some of the new faces into the Coalition ministry,” he said.

“I think it’s the right time to bring in a large number of new people into the Coalition frontbench.”

Mr Guy’s 24-member shadow cabinet will also include five women compared to a record nine women in Labor’s 22-strong ministry.

Mr Guy said the Liberal Party needed to do more to recruit female members and he would make it a key focus to include more women into the parliamentary line-up.

“I’ll do that at every opportunity, you’ll see more of that over the next four years” Mr Guy said.
