Look out: Revelations about Ghostbusters are among the latest Sony hacks.

Who you gonna call about the Ghostbusters reboot? The lawyers apparently, if the latest Sony hack revelations are to be believed.

The iconic 1980s supernatural comedy is at the centre of the continuing stream of embarrassing emails for Sony, with leaks outlining that executives considered legal action against Bill Murray over his refusal to join the series' planned revival, reports The Daily Beast.

Not only that, but it has emerged that Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt have ideas for a "super scary and funny" movie which would work as a Ghostbusters spin-off.

Director Paul Feig's all-female revamp of the supernatural comic classic is going ahead, but it has emerged that Sony considered legal action against Bill Murray's refusal to join the production.

Sony's legal head David Steinberg allegedly wrote that the company "identify 'aggressive' litigation" if "Bill Murray again declines to engage on Ghostbusters'. He added, however, that "if this goes public" Sony would be "in much worse shape".

Other emails have suggested that Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, Lizzy Caplan and Amy Schumer as candidates for the cast. Murray, who starred as the laconic Peter Venkman in the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel, has long declined a part in any further instalments of the iconic series.

Feig, who helmed Bridesmaids, confirmed in October an all-female cast for the reboot, but has not revealed names as yet.

Elsewhere, Tatum apparently wrote to Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal, pushing an idea which has been seized upon as a "complement" to the "Ghostbusters universe". Written in Tatum's effusive email-style, as witnessed in his celebration of 22 Jump Street's success, he said: "Let us show the world The Dark Side and let us fight it with all the glory and epicness of a HUGE BATMAN BEGINS MOVIE. I know we can make this a huge franchise. Fun adventure craziness. COME OONNNN!!!"

Other news from the continuing trail of unpredictable revelations include George Clooney apparently emailing to Amy Pascal to say that he hadn't slept in 30 hours following poor reviews of the Second World War drama The Monuments Men, which he wrote, directed and acted in. "I fear I've let you all down," he wrote. "Not my intention. I apologise. I've just lost touch…"

Leaks have also branched out into the music world. Beyonce's father Matthew Knowles reportedly approached Sony pushing for a Destiny's Child biopic and Kanye West's team were pitching a project that would "to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience".

The hack, which kicked off on November 24 and is rumoured to be retaliation for Seth Rogen's satire on North Korea The Interview, has unveiled a continuing deluge of embarrassing emails allegedly written by Sony executives. Sony has hit back by warning media outlets against the "dissemination" of "stolen information".

The worst could be ahead, however, with hackers warning of a "Christmas Gift" ahead. "The gift will surely give you much more pleasure and put Sony Pictures into the worst state."
