If you’re still mourning the loss of Dumbledore or the heartbreaking demise of Sirius Black, Dobby and Fred Weasley, well, you’re not about to get any closure. But still, there is one Harry Potter death J.K. Rowling regrets.

Remember Florean Fortescue, the owner of the ice cream parlour in Diagon Alley whom we met briefly in The Prisoner of Azkaban? No? Well, Rowling feels bad about killing off the poor guy who was initially supposed to play a bigger role in Harry’s journey for the Deathly Hallows. The author ended up changing her mind (she used Phineas Nigellus Black instead) and killed Fortescue off for what she recently admitted was “no good reason.”

In a new story revealed on her Pottermore fan site on Friday, as a part of her 12-day Christmas gift series, Rowling said that she feels “guilty” over Florean’s death, and his only.

“I seemed to have him kidnapped and killed for no good reason,” Rowling wrote of Florean. She wrote that out of all the wizards killed by Voldemort, the ice cream shop owner is the only one she “feel[s] guilty about, because it was all [her] fault.” Now go back to you’re never-ending sobbing over Dobby.
