THE Brisbane Broncos are set to take a significant profit hit due to major changes to the club’s playing roster and coaching staff.

The publicly-listed NRL club (BBL) said pre-tax profit for 2014 would be between 50 and 60 per cent lower than the $3 million made in 2013, due mainly to one-off costs in its football department.

The club has recruited a new coach in Wayne Bennett and big name players including Darius Boyd and Anthony Milford, while letting several others go.

The Broncos said the underlying business had performed well during the year, with revenue expected to be up eight per cent.

The club is majority owned by News Corp Australia, publisher of The Australian.
