POLICE were able to nip a mystery in the bud when they attended an emergency call about a break-in at a Brisbane home.

Officers attended an address on Montague Rd, West End, after man reported that he believed someone had broken into his residence just after 1.30am Monday.

Police said they attended to discover a “large mud crab” scuttling about the man’s kitchen.

The crustacean reportedly escaped from a styrofoam box and was using its claw to bang on walls of the home.

It is believed the muddie was recaptured without major incident and will reportedly be seeking clemency from an impending death sentence.
