A school friend of a teenage girl allegedly raped by AFL footballer Majak Daw has told a court how she found the alleged victim "hysterical".
Today was the first of a three-day hearing into allegations 23-year-old Daw raped a teenage girl at a house part in Altona Meadows in 2007.
Daw, who was 16 at the time of the alleged incident, has been charged with three counts of rape and arrived at Melbourne Magistrates Court today flanked by family.
Among his supporters was North Melbourne football director Geoff Walsh.
Today a witness told the court she and the alleged victim had been drinking at a school party and became alarmed when her friend went missing.
She went looking for her friend at the creek-side of Altona Meadows and heard a noise described as "in between crying and screaming".
The witness said she ran closer to the noise to find the alleged victim on the ground with "her pants down" while Daw was on top of the victim, restraining her with one hand.
The witness said her friend "was squirming" and was "hysterical".
Daw was charged by summons in June and has denied the allegations.
The hearing continues.
