GOLD Coast Titans player Paul Carter has been sacked after he was busted drink driving for the second time this year.
The Gold Coast Bulletin can reveal Carter was picked up in the early hours of Saturday morning by Gold Coast police when he was driving in Garfield Terrace, Surfers Paradise and later charged with a mid-range drink driving offence.
He has been charged with driving under the influence and disqualified driving, due to a previous drink driving offence when he lost his licence earlier this year.
Carter was stood down by the Titans in June after he was caught drink driving almost four times over the legal limit.
The Titans held a press conference on Monday afternoon and confirmed Carter had been sacked from the club.
The incident happened within hours of disgraced former co-captain Greg Bird’s fall from grace, when the club stripped him of his leadership title after he was charged with urinating in public at Byron Bay.
Carter was Titans Rookie of the Year this year after joining the club from the Canterbury Buldogs last pre-season.
He is the son of Penrith legend Steve Carter.
