FORMER NRL Roosters’ captain Anthony Minichiello and his designer wife Terry Biviano have scored a “renovator’s delight”, after forking out more than $3 million for a Vaucluse fixer upper.

The first couple of football have been househunting for 12 months, according to their personal buyer’s agents, Oliver Berger and David Cohen, of Hastings Property.

“We signed them up over a month ago and managed to see this one before it went on the market,” Mr Berger said.

“Their brief was pretty straight forward. They only wanted to look in Vaucluse, but specifically on the harbourside — not anywhere else,” he said.

A rare unrenovated residence in the prestige suburb, the couple’s new plain Jane family home is a far cry from their designer lifestyle.

The 1980s four-bedroom house on Hopetoun Ave has brown exposed brick, weather-beaten decking and well worn tiles and has been in the same family hands for more than 35 years.

“They’re going to either knock it down or gut it and build a beautiful dream home,” Mr Berger said.

For the newly retired footballer and shoe creator, location was not the only focus.

The parents of one-year-old Azura Tresor also wanted a big block so were won over by the 770sq m slice of land.

“Their priority was to be able to create a great outdoor space so they can focus on entertaining with family,” he said.

Selling agent Mark Meyer of LJ Levi had listed the two-storey house just 12 days ago with plans to put it under the hammer in January.

The Minichiellos’ new property, which also features an above-ground pool, is surrounded by prestige family homes where the median house sale price is $3.45 million, according to Core Logic RP Data, and is only 300m to Parsley Bay Beach and Gibsons Beach and is close to Vaucluse village shops and Watsons Bay.
