Metal rock musician Marilyn Manson has finally spoken out on the controversial music video that depicts the sexual assault of Lana Del Rey.

Surfacing in November , Manson said that he had "nothing to do with" the graphic video. Blaming production company Sturmgruppe for the release, Manson distanced himself from the video's contents.

"That was not what I filmed, that was not for my video," Manson told NME. "People just put it together with my other clips and it really stands strongly out of place."

Shot by horror director Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever), the video shows Del Rey assaulted and left crying in a bed. Manson and Del Rey were romantically linked at the time.

"Eli and I wanted to do a music video with her, but she was being such a problem for me personally, although I still respect her and am friends with her, so I was just letting him test the camera out."

Speaking cautiously, Manson seems sincere in his recount, which differs greatly to brash comments made by Roth last year.

"I shot a video with Marilyn Manson and Lana Del Rey," Roth told talk show host Larry King. "The footage is so sick it's been locked in a vault for over a year."

Manson maintains that the footage was related to no music video of his.

"It wasn't a Marilyn Manson video … This was a grand mistake on the person who put it with my videos."

"I would never make anything like that, nor would Eli, it was more of a camera test."

The video, which was deleted from the Sturmgruppe Youtube channel in November has resurfaced. It can be viewed here (warning: potentially distressing content).

Del Rey has yet to comment on the video.
