WHEN London-based Hayley Bowen found out she was pregnant it was a surprise, which turned into shock when the ultrasound showed she was having twins.

The first-time mum says the pregnancy cemented the idea of her and partner Alex returning to Sydney after two years abroad.

“When I found out it was twins I was like ‘Mum, we’re coming home’ — I just knew we needed to be close to family,” the Sans Souci mum says.

“My pregnancy was pretty good until the end when I couldn’t move. They were born at 38 weeks so were considered full term, and they were quite big.”

She says Phoenix was breech so they were born by C-section.

“We knew we were having boys so I picked one name and Alex picked the other,” she says.

She says the fraternal twins already have very different personalities.

“Phoenix is really cheeky — he’s got the same activeness that he had even in my belly, while Gab is really chilled and calm,” she says.
