THE love story of Alisha Kelly and David Scott starts outside a bar in Sydney’s south, late on a Saturday in the June of 2009.
They instantly connected at famed Shire bar, Northies, and Alisha said it wasn’t long before David asked her out for a cup of her favourite peppermint tea.
“From that moment on we knew we had something special and formed a loyal and loving friendship which led to the foundations of our relationship,†the 31-year-old personal assistant says.
While Alisha was raised at Picnic Point, it was clear they both had a love of the ocean, with David spending most of his adult life near the water at Cronulla after growing up on the Central Coast’s Shelley Beach.
“Our love for the ocean brought us together — David loves to surf and I love to swim in it,†she says.
“We both love to cook and dine at fine restaurants, quite the food critics we are.
“From movie nights to romantic dinners and weekend escapes we always make time for one another.â€
THE couple met while David, 32, was serving in the Australian Army, and after five years together, now live in Bateau Bay.
“We have been on plenty of wonderful holidays and shared many career highlights, however one of our most life changing moments to date is the purchase of our first home here on the Central Coast, and a beautiful home it is,†Alisha says.
“During this time we discovered an overwhelming longing for each other’s friendship, love and a passion for one another that would spread through our lives and into our future.â€
DAVID proposed the night after a romantic dinner at The Summer Salt Restaurant in Cronulla in 2012, postponing his surprise when Alisha cottoned on to his plans.
“I couldn’t help but read into David’s telltale signs that something magical was about to happen,†she says.
“He then decided to abort the mission due to my inner intuitiveness and postpone — he proposed a day later at our home in Cronulla that housed many wonderful and cherished memories.â€
The pair recently exchanged vows in Cronulla on October 17 in front of 92 of their closest friends and family.
“It was a truly magical day that we will cherish for the rest of our lives,†Alisha says.
“David and I said ‘I do’ under a natural stick ceremony arch with soft pastel floral posies accompanied hessian twine.
“Personalised chalkboards, crisp white linens and candles gave the day a warm and elegant feel.
“Our wedding cake was a rustic royal icing vanilla sponge cake from the Cake Salon and our bonbonnière was a mixture of chocolates and white sugared almonds sealed in a personalised craft paper lolly bag and tied with natural hessian twine, made with love by myself.â€
She says their colour scheme comprised of soft peach tones accompanied with wooden treasures and recycled paper.
“I walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of James Morrison’s I Won’t Let You Go and a few hours later we took to the dance floor for the very first time as husband and wife to Ben E. King’s Stand By Me.â€
Due to David’s work schedule the newlyweds have postponed their honeymoon until next year when they will embark on a European and US adventure.
“David is looking forward to spending his first Christmas at home in three years and we’re both looking forward to spending it in our new home.â€
