Police are investigating a fatal crash that has killed a motorcyclist in Deer Park, in Melbourne's west.

Investigators believe the motorcycle was travelling on Ballarat Road when it collided with the rear of an emergency services vehicle, believed to be a Metropolitan Fire Brigade pumper. 

The male rider has not been formally identified and died at the scene. No one else was injured in the collision
