PARENTS buying Christmas gifts for their kids were on the receiving end of a stranger’s generosity after a woman walked into a Toys R Us and paid off all the lay-by accounts.
The unidentified woman shelled out $US20,000 ($24,000) to cover the costs of all 154 accounts at the store in Bellingham, Massachusetts.
Local Fox network Pix 11 said the kind-hearted gesture led to the woman being dubbed the “Layaway Angel†— layaway is the American term for a lay-by.
“I have no words. I can’t believe someone would do that, it’s so nice,†said Diane Brewer, whose son’s gifts were paid for. “I have been running around all week picking up layaways everywhere, so this is really awesome.â€
