STAR Wars fans have been given some of the names of new Episode VII characters, who made their debut in the teaser trailer.

J.J. Abrams, the film’s co-writer and director, and Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, revealed the identities of some of their new characters exclusively to Entertainment Weekly.

In a nod to the original films, each character’s debut was unveiled in retro fashion on mocked-up collector Topps trading cards.

The Topps trading card company, released a series of collectable cards featuring scenes and characters from the original 1977 Star Wars movie, Episode IV: A New Hope.

The card captions carry their names and a brief description of what they are like.

Fans were introduced to a new rolling droid called BB-8.
