With the Blues well on top of the match and leading the Bulls by 148 runs, Boyce produced a leg break that would’ve made Shane Warne proud.
Bowling from around the wicket, Boyce pitched the ball well outside the right-handed batsman’s leg stump. However the ball hit the SCG rough, spun aggressively across Carters’ body and clipped the top of the off stump.
To rub further salt into Carters’ wounds, he was dismissed on 198 — two runs shy of a well-deserved maiden First Class double century.
While not as spectacular, Boyce’s ball rekindled memories of Warne’s famous delivery that bowled then England captain Mike Gatting at Old Trafford in 1993.
Drifting across Gatting’s body from over the wicket, the ball pitched just outside leg stump before abruptly spinning across the right-handed batsman and, remarkably, into his off bail.
Warne’s flawless leg break — his first ball ever bowled in England — is widely considered the best and most celebrated delivery ever bowled in a Test.
