TEMPERS have flared in the first Test between Australia and India, with David Warner involved in a heated exchange with several opponents shortly before tea on day four.

Australia stormed to a dominant position at tea, taking a lead of 212 runs before Shane Watson was dismissed for 33 early in the third sesion to leave Australia 2-139.

A short while later Warner was not out on 85, with captain Michael Clarke 7 not out.

The row began after Warner was clean bowled by pace bowler Varun Aaron, who gave the Aussie opener a send-off, yelling “come on” several times.

That backfired on Indian quick when replays showed he had overstepped and was called for a no-ball, allowing Warner a reprieve. The left-hander responded by saying “come on” several times himself, infuriating Aaron and leading to a face-to-face meeting with fielder Shikhar Dhawan.
