A HUNGRY Chinese schoolboy has escaped death after his chopsticks got stuck in his throat after an accident outside his school.

Jun Chia, aged 12, had crossed the road after buying a takeaway from a noodle stand when he was struck by a scooter driven by a parent of one of his classmates.

In the fall, a set of chopsticks became wedged in his neck.

Staff at the school called an ambulance and the boy was taken to hospital where x-rays revealed that incredibly the chopsticks had caused absolutely no deadly damage.

Medic Zhou Jen told local media: “We did a CT scan and it was revealed that the chopsticks had missed the boys trachea and oesophagus and any key blood vessels.

“He was really very lucky, and we were then able to operate to remove the chopsticks.”

He added that because the chopsticks were not wooden but made of steel there was also little risk of any complications from infection.
