THIS beautiful, young Romanian woman crawled naked to a road after being raped and strangled by a man she met on Facebook and managed to live long enough to identify her attacker.
Eliza Dragne, 30, hadn’t been lucky in her past relationships so decided to keep it a secret when she met a new man, Nicu Alin Cristea, 29, on Facebook.
He had claimed to be a single humanitarian aid worker helping orphaned children, when in reality he was a labourer who had been married for just one month to his real wife Elena Cristea.
After chatting online, she had agreed to meet for a drink, and accepted his offer of collecting her in his car.
But instead of driving her to the bar, he drove her to a secluded area on the outskirts of the town of Alexandria in southern Romania’s Teleorman County where he beat and raped her.
After the attack, he strangled her and thought she was dead.
He then took her mobile phone and logged on to her Facebook account to delete all trace that they had ever contacted each other.
But after driving off and leaving the body of the young woman lying in the field, Dragne managed to crawl back to the road where she was spotted by a passer by and police and emergency services were called.
Police said that her injuries were so severe it had apparently taken her hours to get to the road and be noticed because of the remote location.
She was flown by air ambulance to hospital in the capital Bucharest where surgeons battled in vain to save her life. She passed away soon after, but managed to identify her killer before she died.
Cristea was arrested and awaits trial.
