A woman shot through the front door of her western Sydney home is reportedly linked to one of the city’s most notorious crime gangs.

She was one of three people shot in Sydney on Thursday night. The woman, aged 57, was home alone when her Albert Street house in Auburn was sprayed with bullets just before 9pm on Thursday. She was treated by paramedics then taken to Westmead Hospital, where she is in a critical but stable condition.

The woman, who was shot in the stomach, is believed to be Lola Hamzy according to the Nine Network. The Hamzys are linked to Sydney’s Brothers 4 Life gang.

Mahmoud Hamzy, a cousin of jailed notorious criminal Bassam Hamzy, was shot dead in his Revesby Heights garage last year. Mohammed Hamzy is in jail awaiting trial over another killing. Maha Hamzy, the aunt of Bassam Hamzy, was shot through the front door of her Auburn home in March, 2013.

Less than two hours after the Albert Street shooting, a man stumbled into the foyer of a licensed club in Prestons in Sydney’s southwest with a gunshot wound to his arm.

Soon after another man fronted hospital having been shot in the shoulder.

Police believe these two shootings are related to a drug deal gone wrong.

“Apparently a dispute over a drug quantity ... as a result, shots were fired from one group to another group,” Green Valley Police duty officer Tony Roberts told ABC Radio.
