AUCTION listing levels remain high with only a couple of weeks left of owners to secure a sale before Christmas.

According to the latest figures from CoreLogic RP data there are 3781 auctions scheduled for this week across Australia, with 2995 of those in capital cities.

Spokesman Robert Larocca said in Sydney in particular the high number of properties listed for auction had resulted in a softening of clearance rates last week.

He said buyers were in control as Sydney faced its eighth week in a row of more than 1000 auctions.

“Compared to a month ago there is a lower clearance rate in all capital cities with the exception of Adelaide,’’ he said.

There are 1166 properties scheduled for auction in Sydney and 1324 in Melbourne.

In Brisbane there are more auctions this week — 223 compared to 189 last week.

Adelaide is expecting 154 auctions, Canberra, 64 and Perth, 50 auctions.

Tasmania has 24 auctions this week.

Reservoir in Victoria is the suburb with the highest number of auctions this week with 33 scheduled.
