WANT to stay motivated and active during the week? The secret is simple — grab a buddy.
Fitness expert Nicole Glor has shared some wisdom with the Huffington Post on staying committed to fitness.
“I heard a quote once that said, ‘You’re the average of the five people you hang out with the most,’†Glor said, later adding, “So, if you can surround yourself with people who help your emotional, your physical, your mental wellbeing, that is a good way to motivate.â€
Even if you don’t feel like breaking a sweat, grabbing a buddy or taking a group class can help you “get energy from other people,†she said.

Larissa Mercado-López, an assistant professor of women’s studies at the California State University At Fresno, said it’s especially important to do things collectively for women.
“I study mostly women of colour, and that’s been really key in improving their health ... forming a community around activities,†Mercado-López said.
“There are many benefits to exercising with a group,†agrees body and soul’s Wendy Carrol.
“If you work out with friends, accountability is a great motivator. If you don’t show up, you’ll be letting someone else down.
“Encouragement from an instructor or your workout buddies can be a key factor in keeping you on track. Remember that it feels good to give a compliment, too, so pay it forward. Try joining a dance class with your partner and give them lots of praise, even when your toes get trodden on!â€
So there you have it — the best motivator is a friend.
