VIRAT Kohli has recovered from wearing a Mitchell Johnson bouncer when facing his first ball at the crease to record a half-century after tea.
Kohli reached 50 when India resumed after the break at 3-233 and some explosive strokeplay by Ajinkya Rahane (52) since has helped India past 260.

Earlier, Nathan Lyon snared the important wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara for 73, when the ball deflected back into his stumps while trying to defend the off-spin.
Lyon had bowled consistent lines without luck until claiming Australia’s third wicket.
Kohli replaced Murali Vijay, who fell caught behind for a well-constructed 53 and opener Shikhar Dhawan was bowled by Ryan Harris for 25.
