THIS horrifying footage shows the moment a cyclist was launched into the air after being hit by a car being driven on the wrong side of the road.
Mike Inkley, from Bamber Bridge, Lancashire, sustained terrible injuries including eight broken ribs and a broken collar bone in the crash, leaving him in intensive care for a number of days.
The Mirror reports that the father of one is now calling for all bike riders to fit helmet cameras.
“It’s completely changed my life. Not only is it physically damaging but it’s been tough mentally too.
“I used to cycle around 20 miles a day and work as a full-time photographer so I’m used to being active.
“I’m still in and out of hospital receiving treatment and I’m in constant pain.
“Everything from the incident itself is a complete blur.
“I was in intensive care for four days and I don’t really remember a thing — even after I was in hospital for a few weeks and I was really struggling.
The driver of the car, Jabbir Ahmed, admitted in court to driving without due care and attention.
The 45 year old was fined $900 and given nine penalty points.
“It’s been a terrible few months for me but thankfully justice has been done — I just want to recover as soon as possible and get myself back to normal,†Inkley said.
