TWO former shop assistants allegedly bashed, strangled and set alight their manager in a failed bid to steal Black Friday profits from the store.
Clarence David Mallory, 19, and Carter Carol Cervantez, 25, have been charged with murder after Ashlea Harris was found bludgeoned in her Texas, United States, apartment on November 28.
Harris, 31, was found with her ankles and hands bound, her body burned and blunt force trauma to her face, head and neck, according to theNew York Daily News.
Police believe Mallory and Cervantez, who are dating, killed Harris and took her keys with plans to steal about $US50,000 ($60,000) in Black Friday profits from the store.
The day after Harris’ body was found, Cervantez was captured on CCTV footage trying to open the doors to the store.
The couple was fired from the store earlier this year, suspected of stealing nearly $US18,000 from the store’s safe.
Mallory and Cervantez were charged with capital murder. They denied involvement in the murder.
