THERE’S some bad new for fans of Harry Potter fans who were rejoicing across the world when reports of 12 short stories would be published by JK Rowling before Christmas emerged.

Author JK Rowling has now denied reports that she is releasing the 12 ‘Harry Potter’ short stories this month via her popular site Pottermore.

A message to fans on the Pottermore’s Facebook page confirmed the talk of short stories was untrue.

The post stated: “Just to put everyone straight on the misleading media reports of ‘Twelve New Stories for Christmas’ As true Potter fans worked out straight away, our 12 days of festive surprises and accompanying rhyming riddles refer to new potions and Moments in addition to several new entries by JK Rowling that will be posted on pottermore.com between 12th and 23rd December.

“Sorry to disappoint fans, but there will not be a set of 12 new short stories, one for each day of Christmas. Even Pottermore wouldn’t be that generous.”

The Pottermore website had previously revealed that there would be “wonderful writing by JK Rowling in Moments from Half-Blood Prince, shiny gold Galleons and even a new potion or two” on Facebook.

Pottermore is a free-to-use website focusing on the unknown parts of the Harry Potter series and retelling the story in an interactive way.

On Halloween this year, Rowling released new content featuring the witch and former Hogwarts professor, Dolores Umbridge, who first appeared in the fifth Harry Potter book,

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, whom she compared to Lord Voldemort because of her “desire to control, to punish, and to inflict pain, all in the name of law and order”.

Rowling revealed that Umbridge’s character was based on a real life person and was inspired by teacher Rowling once had.
