WHILE families may celebrate Christmas Day differently throughout Australia one thing is usually the same — the weather.

It’s usually stinking hot.

But don’t worry it’s not too late to escape the predicted 30 degree highs tipped for many of our capital cities on December 25.

Lock in a white Christmas in your own ski chalet in the French Alps where the December temperate hits an average high of about 5 degrees.

The property, was designed by award-winning architect Renaud Chevallier. There is a glass encased entrance hallway with vaulted grand spiral staircase which leads to the first and lower ground floors.

A little cheaper is a five-bedroom chalet with traditional feature in the Les Houches region of Chamonix Valley.

With a $1.77 million price tag the 220sq m chalet sits on 920sq m of land — not that you’ll be spending much time in the yard.

Known as Chalet Pont it has open plan living areas and the all important log fire.

According to its listing all bedrooms have ensuites and two have balconies.

There are views of the entire Mont Blanc Massif and beyond.

The chalet has an outdoor hot tub.

For something a little more rustic, $3.9 million will score you a 19th century Savoyard farmhouse dating back to 1882.

The fully-renovated property retains many of its original features. It was short-listed for the Design et Al Ski Chalet Of The Year 2011 award.

Known as Chalet Vallon the three-level chalet has four bedrooms.

The ground level has under floor heating, there is a large kitchen, dining room with a fire place.

A balcony runs around three sides of the building.

The top floor has an open plan living space with floor to ceiling windows, a log fire, bar, kitchen and games area.

There is — or course — a hot tub as well.
