HIGH altitude, low altitude, blizzards and baking deserts — AFL teams have been all over the world looking for an edge.
Right now Port Adelaide players are being pushed to breaking point in Dubai and the Saints are hoping falling out of inflatable rafts on wild New Zealand rivers will help when a game is on the line next season.
Essendon is wrapping up its pre-season camp in Boulder, Colorado and North Melbourne players are still starstruck after shooting some hoops with NBA star Dante Exum in Utah.
Since Hawthorn players hit the Kokoda Track a decade ago and Collingwood pioneered the high-altitude camp in Arizona in 2005, every AFL club has had their passports stamped in locations from China to Abu Dhabi. Here are our favourite photos from around the globe.

CARLTON
The Abu Dhabi heat might have gone to Brett Ratten’s head in 2011. The Carlton coach declared his team was a “massive chance†to win the flag the next year. He was sacked before Round 23. Here he joins Heath Scotland for a camel ride.

GEELONG
The Cats have publicly stated that high-altitude camps overseas don’t achieve much and are happy to visit Falls Creek instead. In 2006 they played Port Adelaide in London and while it doesn’t strictly fit our criteria, this picture is too good to leave out. This image has been seared into Darren Milburn’s mind ever since.
