A WOMAN convicted of cooking her neighbour after strangling and dismembering him has been sentenced to life in prison.

A financial dispute is believed to have led Angela Stoldt, a 42-year-old Florida woman, to feed limo driver James Sheaffer a cocktail of vodka, peach schnapps and muscle relaxants before stabbing him in the eye with an ice pick and strangling him with a cord.

In an attempt to cremate the body, Stoldt cooked her neighbour’s body parts on the stove.

When that failed to do away with the remains, she bagged up the body parts and enlisted the help of her teenage children to help distribute the body parts around town.

Court documents obtained by the local newspaper revealed that despite the neighbours’ relationship being platonic, they had an arrangement where Stoldt received Sheaffer’s disability payments into a joint bank account.

Tension built when Sheaffer, who was in a long-term relationship, began repeatedly overdrawing from the account.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal describes the pair’s final conversation about their money issues over cocktails (Sheaffer’s drugged with prescription medicine Flexeril).

Stoldt reportedly drove a drunken and dozy Sheaffer to a nearby cemetery, where she claimed he attacked her before she plunged an ice pick from the car’s back seat into his right eye.

She then grabbed a cord and used it to strangle him until he stopped moving.

After taking the body home with a plastic bag around the head (so it wouldn’t drip blood), the mum-of-two left the corpse in a baby pool overnight while she slept.

The judge’s order said she used a hacksaw to chop up the body and tried “to destroy the evidence by cooking and cremating body parts”, the newspaper reports.

Remains in pots and pans on the stove and a leg in the oven would not be destroyed, so with the help of her son who thought he was disposing of a deer his mum had hit, Stoldt got rid of the body parts, buried her cell phone and driver’s licence and dumped the pots and pans.

She tried to explain to her daughter the stench that filled the house was caused by a dead rat.

She eventually confessed to her family and her sister told investigators.

Stoldt pleaded guilty to the 2013 murder and was last week sentenced to life in prison.

Reports from the Volusia County court said Stoldt “showed no remorse” when she was sentenced.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Stoldt told investigator she believed Sheaffer was going to ruin her life and said, “I’m sorry, but I put Jimmie where he belonged, in my opinion at the time”.
