WA will drop most of its level two restrictions and loosen its isolation rules from 12.01am on Thursday, March 31, Premier Mark McGowan has announced.

Mr McGowan said WA was expected to reach its COVID peak either “now or in the coming days” and was ready to enter into the next phase of the pandemic.

Mr McGowan said although the State had recorded more cases than anticipated, high vaccination levels had ensured hospitalisations and ICU admissions were below what was predicted.

From next Thursday, checking-in will only be required in venues that need proof of vaccination for entry.

Mr McGowan said while people would need to check into bars and nightclubs, they would no longer have to check in at supermarkets.

Mask-wearing will still be required indoors for adults and children in Year Three or above.

Indoor gathering limits will sit at 30, while outdoor events at home will be able to entertain 200 people.

Optus Stadium will have a 75 per cent capacity limit, as will theatres.

Hospitality venues will be crowd capped at 500 for two weeks.
