President Joe Biden will require “every single Democratic vote” to pass his $1.9 trillion infrastructure package in the Senate, according to Cypress College Political Science Professor Peter Mathews. “If he just passes it with budget reconciliation, he’ll need every single Democratic vote to pass plus the vice president’s vote to break the tie, it’s going to be tough,” he told Sky News. “On the other hand he might actually break up the package and use part of it, pass it with some Republican support, a smaller package, [rather] than go for a much larger one.” Professor Mathews said President Biden had a “plan to pay for most of this” which is to tax corporations and wealthy Americans to raise funds.
