"Talk With Ted" is a world first AI breakthrough in the area of dementia education allowing carers to learn in real-time how to communicate best with people who live with dementia, according to Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe. "Talk With Ted is a world first in the area of dementia education," she told Sky News. "Ted is an avatar and how Ted responds is the same way a person living with dementia will respond - so carers get to learn in real time the types of communication that works best for people living with dementia. "All of the scenarios that we have with Ted have actually been informed by people living with dementia or family carers or personal carers. "It's also online so it means that aged care providers are not struggling with getting a large portion of their workforce off the floor at any one time - it's only an hour."
