A couple have pleaded guilty to being drunk on board a holiday flight.

Gemma Heap, 36, and Philip Mycock, 39, had been accused of having sex on a Thomas Cook service from Manchester to Tunisia.

Prosecutors initially claimed the pair had sex while still in their seats.

The pair had denied charges of being drunk on an aircraft and outraging public decency and were due to face trial.

But they admitted the first charge when they appeared today at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester last week.

Prosecutors withdrew the second charge after offering no evidence.

The incident happened on July 29, 2019 as Thomas Cook flight MT 820 was travelling to Enfeda Airport in Tunisia.

The maximum sentence for being drunk on an aircraft is two years imprisonment.

The pair, both from Whitefield, Bury, will be sentenced on April 16.

Earlier this month, Ms Heap, 35, and Mr Mycock, 38, allegedly joined the ‘mile high club’ during a Thomas Cook service from Manchester to Tunisia last year.

The maximum sentencing for outraging public decency is seven years in jail while being drunk on an aircraft carries up to two years imprisonment.

The original charge stated the pair in a “public place committed an act outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner, namely, had or appeared to have had sexual intercourse in the presence of other passengers while sat in your seat on board the aircraft”.
