Three people, including a woman in a senior management position, have been charged in connection to an alleged million-dollar gold theft in Western Australia's Goldfields.
Detectives from the Kalgoorlie-based Gold Stealing Detection Unit have charged a 73-year-old Geographe man and a 40-year-old man from East Fremantle with stealing as a servant.
Police allege the men stole large quantities of gold-bearing ore from the Greenfields Mill in Coolgardie.
LoadingFMR Investments owns the Greenfields Mill, which processes gold from the company's Gordon Sirdar mine near Kalgoorlie, and from other mining companies and professional prospectors in the region.
The investigation involved a toll milling contract, which saw a total of 16,931 tonnes of ore processed, producing 1,881.8 ounces of gold with an approximate value at the time of $3.36 million.
It is alleged the men transferred money from processing the ore into bank accounts which they could access.
Police claim 8,465 tonnes of gold ore was stolen with an estimated value of $1.18 million.
The 73-year-old man is due to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on February 1 and the 40-year-old man in the same court on February 8.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old Boulder woman, Morgan Whitney Dombroski, faced the Kalgoorlie Magistrate's Court today on a charge of possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
The court heard she allegedly received part of the proceeds, which was around $5,000.
Ms Dombroski, whose LinkedIn profile says she works as operations superintendent at the Greenfields Mill, did not enter pleas and is due back in court on February 22.
As part of their investigation, detectives executed nine search warrants at residential and commercial properties in the Kalgoorlie and Busselton areas in the past two months.
It is the second major case by the Gold Stealing Detection Unit in the past 12 months, after three people were charged over an alleged armed hold-up at the Beta Hunt gold mine near Kambalda in April last year, in which around $275,500 was stolen.
