The agonised groans of a father fallen from a shipping container in rural Victoria are the kind to linger long after the credits, so just imagine the impact on those on the frontline. Elsewhere, there’s a man who’s been shot in the face, and, for light relief, a lad who walked into a wall while staring at his phone.

This quiet Tasmanian platonic friendship comedy flirts with farce when Daniel and Emma (co-creators Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola) sign up for internet dating, in Emma’s case, of the “speed” variety. These ripe comic opportunities take place at the local pub, the kind of old-fashioned watering hole that once doubled as families’ lounge rooms. On hand to offer the sort of cynical truisms that only she can is their boss (and Daniel’s mum), played by the marvellous Kris McQuade.
