"Additional spaces, including a multi-storey junior learning building and sports facilities, will be completed during 2020, and Stage 2 includes a future senior secondary learning precinct to be completed for term 1, 2023."

It will be one of eight new schools opened by the state government this year, with more than 1500 new students and 300 staff.

The Valley's new secondary college will be joined by Calliope State High School, Foxwell State Secondary College in Coomera, Mango Hill State Secondary College, Yarrabilba State Secondary College, Ripley Valley State School, Ripley Valley State Secondary College and Lee Street State Special School at Caboolture.

The Valley school is among eight other new schools to open in 2020.

Education Minister Grace Grace said 2020 was the first year the state had a full cohort of students after Prep was introduced in 2007.

"The original half-cohort of Prep students graduated from high school at the end of 2019, and for the very first time in 2020 we will have six full year levels of students in Queensland secondary schools," she said.

In November, Ms Grace and Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk promised funding would be brought forward to bring airconditioning to 300 schools over the summer school holidays.

Earlier in January, Ms Grace said 143 contracts had been awarded to install airconditioning but would not say how many schools would be airconditioned by the first day of school.

The LNP had previously outlined a $1.5 billion plan to have airconditioning in every state school classroom by 2028.
