BRISBANE Broncos young gun Jamayne Isaako has finished a stellar year by becoming a dad.
His partner Abby Sutherland, 27, gave birth to their baby boy, Isaiah Jamayne Isaako, at Mater Mothers’ Hospital in Brisbane early yesterday, a week before her due date.
Sharing a photo of his son to Instagram, Isaako wrote: “Isaiah Jamayne Isaako, 26/10/18, 7.3oz, 7.36am — The pain and discomfort your mummy @abbysuth went through to deliver you as the perfect and content little man you are makes us both so blessed to welcome you into this world as your mum and dad. I love you so much.”
The 22-year-old winger returned from the New Zealand Test squad to be present for the birth in Brisbane.
Sutherland added on a separate Instagram post: “The most intense experience of my whole life bringing this little angel into the world, but he was definitely worth it.”
After playing every game this season, Isaako was recently named Dally M Rookie of the Year.
Sutherland, a legal secretary who moved to Brisbane from Melbourne four years ago, recently told The Courier-Mail of his breakout year: “I’ve really enjoyed supporting him and obviously us having a baby towards the end of the year just tops it off.”
The couple have been dating for two years after meeting through a mutual friend at the club.
As for other Broncos teammates, Anthony Milford’s partner Miri Fa’i and Kodi Nikorima’s girlfriend Bree Tobler are also due to give birth before the start of the 2019 season.
Sutherland said it had been helpful to share her pregnancy experience with the other women.
“I moved to Brisbane and didn’t know anyone so it’s been great and now that Jamayne has signed on for another four years we are stable here which is good,” she said.
“It’s so good to have someone to bounce off.”
