Cyber criminals have Australian small and medium businesses in their crosshairs - with hacking, phishing, and ransomware sucking up over $1 billion per year. NAB Chief Security Officer David Fairman told Sky News host David Speers just how serious the cyber crime issue is in Australia, with a report made every ten minutes to the Cyber Security Center about a cyber attack in Australia. “We know that cyber risk impacts the Australian economy by over $1 billion per year and the vast majority of it is targeted at small business," Mr Fairman said. “Small and medium [sized] enterprises probably have less mature security programs and don’t have the resources to throw at it, therefore, they’re a little more susceptible and cyber criminals know this."
