Race 2: Class 3 HCP (1600m)

Wyong-based 5YO 2. Mo The Great is knocking on the door after only run down late two runs ago before finishing off nicely at Hawkesbury when ridden quieter. Draws the fence and will appreciate getting back on firmer ground. Consistent 4YO stablemate 1. Seeingisbelieving hasn't finished further back than second in his last five and was brave chasing the runaway winner at Gosford. Back to his best trip, with the blinkers going on, but asked to carry a big weight. Newcastle gelding 3. Chosen Prince has performed well in two runs back, the latest beaten under four lengths in a BM 70 by Cinquedea. This could prove a strong form race, with that horse engaged at Rosehill on Saturday. Gosford 4YO 4. Matakauri won two straight against weaker at Taree before getting lost back in the field this grade at Tamworth. Draws well and should run out his first go at the mile. Tamworth 5YO 5. Delete comes out of that same race at home as Matakauri when doing his best work late, and should also be competitive over further ground.

How to play it: Mo The Great to win and first four 1-2/1-2-3-4-5.

Race 3: 3YO Maiden Handicap (1100m)

Payback for punters here with smart Wyong colt 1. Rifles who blew his chance at the start on debut this track, but still chased hard into second behind highly rated Iconic Star. Draws the fence, with winkers going on, and extra trip ideal.

Dangers: Watch on debutant Muswellbrook gelding 2. Absolute Trust (Trusting x Exalted Mollie by Alannan) who bolted in a recent trial; while another dominant Muswellbrook trial winner 3. Shamus Star returns nearly 11 months after flopping on debut. Taree filly 8. Peachies Dream has been in and around the money all preparation and pattern suggests she'll like this track.

How to play it: Rifles to win and quinella 1 and 2.

Race 4: Maiden Handicap (1300m)

Open and modest affair but looks suitable first-up for talented Newcastle filly 9. Wild Sheila who hasn't started for seven months, but looked forward finishing over the top to win a home trial. Hit the line hard over a slightly shorter trip on debut in the spring.

Dangers: Muswellbrook gelding 4. Manno is building towards that breakthrough win. Has done his best work late when ridden back at Dubbo and Tamworth, and this track is tailor made for his late burst. Beautifully bred 3YO local gelding 1. Egyptian Amulet has had support in the market both runs to start her career, but disappointingly hasn't attacked the line. Back on home track and blinkers on are big plusses, but inside draw may not suit his pattern.

How to play it: Wild Sheila each way and box exacta 1-4-9.

Race 5: BM 66 Handicap (1400m)

Like the value second-up about 4YO local gelding 10. The Warlord who resumed with a fair effort under a big weight at Dubbo but improves with a run under his belt. Drawn wide but drops 2kg.

Dangers: Newcastle 4YO gelding 4. The Outcast has won his last three in dominant fashion, each time sitting off the speed and powering over the top. Draws to do similar again but up in weight, and all career wins have been in good ground. Warwick Farm gelding 2. Aristograts has been smashing the line lately, winning a good Class 3 at the Sunshine Coast, but up 4kg on that run; while Muswellbrook 5YO 7. Magic Beneteau defied a betting drift to score an upset win this grade last start but would need to improve further.

How to play it: The Warlord to win and trifecta 4-10/2-4-7-10.

Race 6: Class 1 Handicap (1300m)

Competitive race, with plenty of chances. Newcastle 3YO gelding 2. Sir Winkle looks well placed returning for his second preparation off a nice trial win. Beaten a head on debut when heavily supported back in January before progressing to win his maiden third-up. Drawn to park right behind the speed.

Dangers: Wyong 3YO gelding 6. Poulton Le Sands is bred to get much further  but flew home late first-up this track. Drawn to get plenty of cover back in the field and extra trip an obvious plus. Wyong 3YO 3. Commander Bell showed plenty of fight careering away to win his maiden third-up but likely to work early from a wide gate. Muswellbrook 4YO gelding 4. Timion is much better than his one win from 18 starts suggests. Finished nicely in consecutive Class 1s before failing against stronger last start but back in more suitable grade. Newcastle filly 5. Materiality resumes and has ability but drawn right off the track.

How to play it: Sir Winkle to win.

Race 7: BM 58 Handicap (1100m)

Another open sprint battle. Local mare 3. Lope De Mango has stalked the speed and found the line nicely in her last two, and while the handicapper hasn't missed with 60.5kg, she's ready to win.

Dangers: Wyong filly 8. Pluck And Lucky just needs even luck from the wide barrier to be in the finish. Powered home late resuming at Muswellbrook and is already a second-up winner. Stablemate filly 12. Soori won her maiden three runs back but disappointed last start. Rival local 3YO filly 4. Delchuzy resumes, and while didn't do much in her only trial, normally comes to hand quickly.

How to play it: Lope De Mango each way.

Race 8: Class 2 Handicap (1100m)

Improving Wyong 3YO 5. Engadine can go right on with the job here after winning a good quality Class 1 at Muswellbrook at big odds. Previously was beaten only half length by Bubbles Ball who won a stronger race at Newcastle on Tuesday and draws to get an ideal trail.

Dangers: Wyong mare 2. Venture Capital only had one plain run in the autumn before being spelled but looked sharp winning a recent open trial, and short-course form in the spring was good enough for this. Rival local filly 4. Charlotte's Heart let down punters in a Class 3 at Coonamble after a big run in stronger Highway company at Randwick. Up in weight and drawn very wide but wears blinkers for the first time. Stablemate 12. Empathy finished hard to win a Class 1 two runs back before disappointing at Quirindi, but drops significantly in weight. Local 5YO 11. Marokawa has ability on his day but doesn't always fire. Finished strongly from a mile back at Tamworth last start, and this track suits even better.

How to play it: Engadine each way and trifecta 2-5/2-4-5-11-12.
