Married At First Sight star Jessika Power has defended her friendship with a male pal after video surfaced of the two kissing earlier this week.
Power, who last week confirmed she was dating season four contestant Nick Furphy, was in Tasmania over the weekend for a nightclub appearance.
On Saturday night, a photo circulated of Ash Dudman, a disability support worker and longtime friend of Power’s, hugging and looking close with the MAFS star.
At the time both denied any romantic involvement and insisted their relationship was strictly platonic.
However earlier this week video appeared on Instagram of Power and Dudman kissing as they exited a car together.
News.com.au has seen the video, which shows Power and Dudman sharing a prolonged kiss on the lips with their arms around each other.
But Power said the Instagram video was not what it seemed and merely an innocent mix-up between friends.
The MAFS star said the video had been taken by a friend of Dudman’s and she and Furphy were still in the early stages of dating but not exclusive.
“That video was taken at the airport. I was giving him a kiss goodbye and he kissed the side of my lip,” she told news.com.au.
“I knew his friend was videoing and if I thought I was doing anything wrong I wouldn’t have allowed it. Ash and I have been mates for years. His friend is just young and immature and fangirled a little.”
Dudman confirmed Power’s version of events to news.com.au, saying he had been aiming for her cheek and had “not at all” gone for her mouth.
Last week, Power revealed she had been dating Furphy for several weeks after their friendship turned romantic.

“It just sort of went from me joking going, ‘Oh it would just be great to make it official now,’ to him saying, ‘We’re dating’ … it’s just one of those things that naturally fell into place,” she said.
Furphy was “married” to twin Sharon Marsh on the show, with the couple breaking up after filming ended.
Power’s time on MAFS saw the reality star start a relationship with Dan Webb behind her TV spouse Mick Gould’s back.
Webb and Power broke up just days after the MAFS finale aired on TV after fighting through a live interview on Talking Married.
