Commemoration services are underway to mark the 100th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, officially marking the end of World War One. The victors and the vanquished gathered in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles to impose sanctions and limitations on Germany, after six months of complex negotiations. The allies chose the palace also as a symbolic reminder it had been the location for the proclamation of the German Empire. They also selected June the 28th for the ceremony, five years to the day since the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Image: AP
