Who ate all the pies? This super gran did.Adelaide’s Rada Sorak has the chance to win $1 million — but only if she can kick straight.
On Saturday afternoon in the shades of the MCG, Mrs Sorak will attempt to kick a Sherrin football into a target 35m away, and if she succeeds she’ll become Australia’s newest millionaire.
The 67-year-old grandmother this week won the Four’N Twenty $1 Million Kick for Cash competition — the biggest-ever prize offered in the bakery company’s 72-year history — which gave pie lovers Australia-wide the chance to kick a football into a model Four’N Twenty pie to win the $1 million.
The retiree is now spending hours in a park nearby her home in Adelaide’s south perfecting her action as she prepares for the kick of her life.
The Crows fan said she was feeling more excited than nervous about it all.
“I’m so excited, I never dreamt I’d win anything like this, I spent the morning calling everyone to tell them I’d won,” Mrs Sorak said.
“I bought three pies a day for weeks, months.
“I love entering competitions; what else do you do when you retire?”
Mrs Sorak is now hurriedly working on her kicking style with the help of husband Milan and her two young grandchildren.
“My kick is coming along beautifully,” she said, adding that she is more used to kicking a soccer ball than a Sherrin, but was getting used to the oval version.
She has also been studying the kicking style of her favourite Crow, Eddie Betts, and if she can kick straight, she’ll use the money for her family and “maybe a nice holiday”.
Her prize also includes her flights to Melbourne, accommodation and a corporate box experience at the MCG.
