Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan says other states and territories should follow Victoria’s lead and ban mobile phones from schools. The Andrews government has announced that mobile phones will be banned from all Victorian public schools from next year. The policy is for primary and secondary campuses, with students having to turn their phones off and be kept in their lockers for the school day. Exemptions will be made for students who use their phones to monitor health conditions. Mr Tehan told Sky News that international research show shows bans are beneficial for students. He says the federal government will work ‘co-operatively’ with other states and territories to try and implement this move nationally. Image: News Corp
