Race 2 - 12.45pm MAIDEN HCP (1400m)

Beautifully-bred Newcastle filly 3. Lady Animalia produced a strong finishing run on debut at Muswellbrook, and the second horse from that race has since won. Had previously trialled well for leading stable, and only up 1kg for the natural step up in trip. The one to beat!

Dangers: Wyong 3YO gelding 1. Bugalugs can peak here fourth-up this prep over the longer trip. Was solid through the line behind Sheeran at Muswellbrook, and this looks a shade easier. Coffs Harbour 3YO 4. Ramrod has been freshened back in distance after two fair runs over longer, and should be in the finish from a good barrier.

How to play it: Lady Animalia to win and quinella 1 and 3

Race 3 - 1.20pm MAIDEN HCP (1400m)

Expecting smart Newcastle filly 3. Autumn Rain to bounce back returning to firmer ground and ridden quieter after flopping at Pt Macquarie last start when over-racing early as a well-backed favourite. Previously flew home on debut at Scone, and is bred to get over much more ground.

Dangers: Big watch on 4YO Wyong debutant and Japanese-sired 1. Developed (Orfevre x Miss Emma by Key Of Luck) who has won both trials in good and heavy ground for leading provincial trainer, the latest had to work, but was strong through the line. Has to be wound up carrying 59kg on debut. Newcastle gelding 2. Hashtag Viking has had four runs this prep, and keeps improving; Wauchope mare 8. Dogoda Fury is still trying to break through after 24 starts, but don't dismiss. Has really attacked the line at big odds in her last two, and while this is tougher, drops in weight.

How to play it: Autumn Rain to win and quinella 1 and 3

Race 4 - 1.55pm 2YO HCP (1000m)

Wide open battle for the youngsters, with half the field on debut. Really liked the way debutant Newcastle filly 10. Serriano (Dissident x Mafia Miss by Mossman) kept finding the line in recent truly run Gosford trial. Connections have been patient, and she draws a nice gate for leading trainer/rider combination, with the blinkers on.

Dangers: Stablemate filly and dual trial winner 13. Wandabaa (Wandjina x Mabkhara by Anabaa) looked strong beating Serriano in that trial despite over-racing early, but draws a wide gate which could prove the difference. Gosford filly 5. Last Chance Dance didn't miss by much as a well-backed favourite at only second career run, and draws to park right behind the speed. Was taken by the second-up run of Wyong gelding 7. Upper East Side who finished off okay over a shorter dash at Newcastle, and will improve again here.

How to play it: Serriano each way and trifecta 5-10-13/5-7-10-13

Race 5 - 2.35pm CL3 HCP (1000m)

Tricky sprint, but local 4YO 2. Cartel has been freshened since failing at Newcastle second-up, and draws to be in the finish. Scored a dominant BM 66 win fresh this track two runs back when heavily supported in betting.

Dangers: Wide-travelled Muswellbrook 4YO 3. Bullseye Score is better suited back to this trip after a fair effort at Hawkesbury. Bolted in his maiden from the front this track in December. Gosford gelding 4. Neretva finds it hard to win, but consistently around the money and draws to be in the finish. Port Macquarie 3YO gelding 5. Just Sizzling will need plenty of speed on up front, and some luck from the inside draw, but all four runs this prep have been at this track, and can rattle off a slick final 300m. Leading rider jumps aboard. Stablemate mare 5. Kirk Ella comes out of that same latest race when she was swamped late after leading, but down in weight and draws a better gate.

How to play it: Cartel to win and quinella 2 and 3

Race 6 - 3.10pm CL1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600m)

Lightly-raced 7YO Coffs Harbour gelding 5. Spender hit the line hard in three runs this prep before blowing the field away to claim his maiden under the same weight at Grafton. Has a big finishing motor, and just needs clear air from the turn.

Dangers: Newcastle filly 13. Mill City has been competitive in deeper races this prep, and strong finishing effort in BM 64 fillies and mares grade last start is a strong pointer for this. Port Macquarie 4YO 4. Snitzel Reign is progressing nicely in first real prep. Scored a dominant win as a well-backed favourite two runs back before only over-run late in a CL1 last start. Wyong filly and last start maiden winner 11. First Pirouette is hard fit and stays at the mile from a good draw; while Coffs Harbour mare 7. Eye Was will go a long way back from the extreme outside gate, but her form around this grade is much better than it looks, and she is capable of finishing like a train. Another Wyong-based filly 12. Lily Of China upset a decent maiden field from the front at big odds last start, and can give some cheek again from the good draw.

How to play it: Spender to win and first four 5/4-7-11-12-13

Race 7 - 3.45pm BM 66 HCP (1400m)

Good competitive race, but 3YO Port Macquarie gelding 3. Chamisal is the one to beat! Progressed quickly from his maiden win at third career run to charge over the top of a solid CL2 field. Up in weight but draws the right trailing barrier, and looks headed for better races.

Dangers: Another Port-trained 3YO 4. Foxy's Foxinator has been running into the money all prep, winning a CL3 three runs back, but draws a tricky wide gate. Local 4YO gelding 5. Party Host resumes off a nice trial, and normally comes to hand sharply; while include Progressive Port filly 9. Nashian who has won two of her last three from just off the speed, but takes on tougher here.

How to play it: Chamisal to win

Race 8 - 4.20pm CL1 HCP (1250m)

Open battle to finish, but looks a nice race for improving Gosford filly 2. Take To Heart at just third career run. Won on debut at Wyong last winter and was then spelled before returning with a strong closing effort in a BM 64 for the fillies and mares at Kembla behind Sakura who then ran a bold race on the first day of the Scone carnival. Draws to park off the speed, with an ideal trail.

Dangers: Wyong 3YO gelding 1. Cliff's Choice is a tough front-runner who has been around the mark all prep, beating the capable Winter in America four runs back, but looks weighted to his absolute best with 60.5kg. Consistent Kempsey gelding 6. First Time Lucky has won only once from 14 but placed six times, and hit the line hard in his last two; while Muswellbrook gelding 5. Asudem was heavily backed first-up finishing hard into a place this track and gets the blinkers first time, but a little more depth here and draws wide.

How to play it: Take To Heart each way

BEST BETS: Race 2 - 3. LADY ANIMALIA;  Race 5 - 2. CARTEL

BEST VALUE: Race 8 - 2. TAKE TO HEART
