High-end property sales continue to flourish in the beach suburb of Bateau Bay, with a recent sale of a four-bedroom property smashing the suburb record by $175,000.

The large home at 29 Reserve Dr was directly opposite the beach and was sold for $1.7 million before hitting major real estate websites for pre-auction marketing.

Co-listed by Paul Witney and Jay Hinde from LJ Hooker Bateau Bay, the sale was marketed quietly on the agency site last year when it was snapped up quickly.

“I’ve seen a lot of houses in Bateau Bay, and in my opinion this one was in the perfect position - I’d say it is arguably the best property in the suburb. We received several offers on it,” Mr Witney said.

With lots of large windows, the positioning of the living spaces took full advantage of the ocean aspect, with views from almost every room.

Constructed by a local builder, the property was owned by the vendors for 26 years, who are retiring. The buyers were a local Shelly Beach family.

Mr Witney said that there was no price guide for the property, but comparative sales included 21 Point St, which sold just a month ago for $1.525 million and 4 Rushby St, which sold in September for $1.5 million.

“The top end of this market is incredibly strong at the moment - the record just keeps being broken in Bateau Bay,” Mr Witney said.
