A BUSHFIRE is continuing to burn at Undullah, near Ipswich, which earlier prompted an emergency evacuation alert for hikers in nearby the Flinders Peak Conservation Park.

The blaze is currently burning in inaccessible country and travelling in an easterly direction towards Mt Elliot Road, Undullah.

Firefighters have conducted backburning operations in the area and the fire is currently burning within containment lines.

Earlier, hikers in Flinders Peak Conservation Park near Ipswich were told to leave immediately via text message about 12.30pm due to the blaze, however that warning was cancelled by late afternoon.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.
