Race 2 MAIDEN HCP (1300m)
Another open affair where luck will play a part. Going with the Hawkesbury mare 7. Another Shadow who is ready to break through after hitting the line nicely in her last couple at home.
Dangers: The Maid In Milan form from a recent Bathurst maiden should stand up, especially Hawkesbury mare 4. Pretty Song who was specked in the market before charging home in that race; while 9. Narrow Neck Nelson comes out of that same race when only just edged out despite being unwanted in betting. Will sit on a modest speed and give plenty of cheek.
How to play it: Back Another Shadow each way and Box 4-7-9 in exacta.
Race 3 MAIDEN HCP (1600m)
It doesn't get much easier for the Maidens up to the mile here, although two different form-lines rise to the top. Warwick Farm-trained ex Kiwi stayer 1. Seven Falls is having his first run in nearly six months but is forward enough after winning a recent 1200m trial, although has to lump a big weight; while Hawkesbury mare 7. Ellie Beach was rock solid in decent Maiden company over this trip late last year and finished off nicely last start in her first run in 10 months. Gets a nice spot on the map and in nicely at the weights.
Dangers: Warwick Farm-trained colt 5. Kiss The Bride was good on debut at Newcastle, but has a tricky gate to overcome; while Hawkesbury visitor 2. Redazzity will appreciate the step up in trip after working home okay in his last couple.
How to play it: Back Ellie Beach each way and box 1-5-7 in exacta.
Race 4 CL1 and MAIDEN PLATE (2100m):
After hitting the line nicely in his last three, especially behind Scratches in a BM 70 at Warwick Farm, Hawkesbury-trained 4. Orokonui looks a moral from a soft draw and leading rider aboard, but you'll have to take a very skinny price.
Dangers: Probably none, but Hawkesbury-trained grey 7. Decapitor has been consistent enough and gets the inside draw; Dubbo-trained 1. Club Town found the line last start and gets a more senior rider this time; while watch for improvement from ex-Victorian 10. Savaboor who is yet to run a place in seven starts, but will improve second run back over this longer trip for a smart Warwick Farm stable.
How to play it: Back Orokonui to win and trifecta stand-out 4 from 1-7-10 boxed.
Race 5 CL3 HCP (1280m)
Competitive race with several chances, but 4. Funky Music is the best of them after finishing hard to win a weaker grade at Canberra last start. This is a little tougher, but has continued to improve and found the line every run this prep.
Dangers: Warwick Farm-trained 2. Tony's Reward has finished close up in his last three after winning a BM 58 at Bathurst, each time hard in the market. Gets a lovely run just off the speed from a good gate and will be in the finish. Local trainer Brian Gentle has three in the race and the best of them is 3. Destiny's Reward who also likes to settle back and hit the line. Still lightly raced for a 6YO and raced interstate against stronger mid-year. Include another local 10. Panuara in exotics, will push forward from a wider gate and this trip suits.
How to play it: Back Funky Music to win and box 2-3-4-10 in trifecta.
Race 6 BM 58 HCP (1400m)
Another evenly graded race with several hopes, but going wider on one of three Gayna Williams-trained runners from Mudgee in 8. Griffin's Gaze. Came from well back in a similar class for an impressive win at Dubbo last start when backed in from a big price, and the previous run was also good behind the capable Harry New Shoes. Has to overcome a wide gate, but has leading hoop aboard and is over the odds.
Dangers: Warwick Farm-trained and lightly-raced 4. Adaboycharlie has really attacked the line in his last couple on the south coast, and this looks a nice assignment from the gate; while don't let 2. Our Anniversaire under your guard, ran on nicely last start at Hawkesbury off a trial win and gets 3kg off here from the fence draw.
How to play it: Back both Griffin's Gaze each way and Our Anniversaire each way.
Race 7 CL1 HCP (1000m)
Fairly weak sprint, but keen on Mudgee-trained 3. Baker's Image first up. Admittedly a perennial place-getter in previous prep, but only career win was fresh and trainer will have him ready to go.
Dangers: Warwick Farm-trained 2. Zerchois is a clear threat after finishing just over 3 lengths back from the smart The Tenor at Gosford in first run for nearly two months. Only has to advance a little on that to be in the finish.
How to play it: Back Baker's Image to win and quinella with Zerchois.
Race 8 BM 58 HCP (1000m)
Speed battle to finish and keen on Warwick Farm-trained 6. Showgals to launch over the top late. Improved third run back to be beaten only 3 lengths behind the smart The Tenor, and enough speed on here to allow him to settle back from a wide gate and rattle home.
Dangers: Mudgee mare 3. Meraki Miss, who was also accepted for the previous race, has the ability and went close last start at Bathurst. Will go forward from a wide gate and any sort of luck will see her in the finish; while locally-trained 5. Sostenido won his only career start fresh and tuned up for this with a recent easy trial win at Goulburn.
How to play it: Back Showgals to win.
