There was one particular question on everyone’s mind during the Wallabies Test against Ireland on Saturday evening in Brisbane.

Why the hell did David Pocock’s headgear keep coming off?

Like he never left: David Pocock was immense for Australia in defence, 18 months since he played his last Test.

The explanation offered up by the Australian back-rower perhaps isn’t too surprising but the tale of what happened after full-time is a great yarn.

Pocock, in his first Wallabies outing since December 2016, had his head gear ripped off by Ireland players on multiple occasions. At one point, the game had to be stopped so the Wallabies No.6 could put the headgear back on.

“The Velcro is actually worn,” Pocock explained. “I need to get it replaced."
