SANTA Ana Lane has become the first horse in history to win the Goodwood Stakes-Stradbroke Handicap double with a thoroughly dominant display at Doomben.
The Anthony Freedman-trained sprinter was much too good for runner-up Super Cash and race favourite, three-year-old filly Champagne Cuddles as he made it three Group 1 wins for the season.
Ben Melham manoeuvred the gelding through to the inside and then tore past his rivals after the 200m to comfortably win.
Earlier in the day, jockey Michael Walker was stood down and taken to hospital after winning the Group 2 Queensland Guineas aboard Sambro.
Walker had to be assisted back to the jockeys’ room after being in a distressed state as Sambro was pulling up following his victory on Saturday.
